WHITEFRIARS / POWELL GLASS BLOG

WHITEFRIARS / POWELL GLASS BLOG
Wavy Finger Bowls in Dark Green/Amber/Flint Harry Powell c.1880

Have a look at my genuine Whitefriars Glass For Sale - please scroll down

I am a longstanding member of http://www.whitefriars.com./ - the definitive resource for all Powell/Whitefriars Glass fans, and this blog hopes to pay homage to, and perhaps sell some of the most iconic, attractive and best made glass ever produced in Britain. I hope you will enjoy these images (which I intend updating periodically) from my personal collection. I try to concentrate on the more difficult pieces - be they uncatalogued patterns or unusual colours - as the joy of finding something out of the ordinary makes it all seem worthwhile!

N.B. All images are copyright and must not be used elsewhere without permission. You can copy them to your computer for personal use only, thank you.

A bad day at the glassworks!

A bad day at the glassworks!
Most Whitefriars glassware is top quality, but very occasionally poorer quality work slipped out of the back door. RUBY vases LHS with trailing melted into the opaque body and a rough pontil, RHS blotchy orangey-red ribbon-trail vessel

FRANK HILL must have pinched this one too hard but he fixed it whilst moulten
